Art The art in 1930 was inspired by the Great Depression. The Great Depression was a tragic time,but some of the best sculptures were made such as The Statue of Liberty,The Chrysler building and the Rockfeller center. Even though this traumatizing time effected many many memorable creations benefited from this time
Fashion The use of the Zipper made its introduction in the 30's. People used Zippers for many reason. Mostly because they were less inexpensive than buttons and closures. Men's pants consisted of wide and high wasted material. Sweater vest were also used as an alternate to traditional vest.
Theater and film 30's were referred to as Hollywood's Golden Age. Hollywood showcased a numerous amount of of movies to entertain their Depression audience. Most of movie goers went to the movies to escape their everyday lives for a minimum of a couple hours.
Education Education in the 1930s was a difficult time for public schools. Most parents couldn't afford Clothes,supplies,and textbooks for there children. If that wasn't bad enough schools and teachers salaries were shortened. The famous Dick and Jane Books taught millions of children to read
Radio By 1930's 80% of the population owned radio sets. Radios were used to entertain and specialize in Soap operas,Comedies, an adventures. This influence on radios were known as the Golden Age. One of the most dramatic moments that ever occurred in Radio history happened on May 6,1937. The story was on alien invasion. Even though there was a disclaimer saying it wasn't true people still shook with fright.
Dust Bowl The Dust Bowl was given the name to the area of the Great Plains. This area and more were devastated by nearly a decade of drought and soil erosions during the 1930's. The huge dust storms caused severe damage to the areas and destroyed crops making living not safe. Millions of people were forced to leave their home often searching for work in the West. A drought lasted for 8 years starting in 1931. By 1932 the wind picked up and the sky went Black in the middle of the day
